Frequently Asked Questions
The main difference is the feed water source and its connections. The Arium® Mini is independent of any pipework or pretreated water connections, instead using a Bag as intermediate storage that is manually filled from a vessel. The system then uses pretreated water from the Bag to produce ultrapure water. A Bag is also used with the Mini Plus, as this is a combined water purification system. This means you connect the system directly to a tap water connection. The system includes a pretreatment system which leads pretreated water to the Bag for intermediate storage before producing ultrapure water. With Mini Essential, you can connect directly to a pretreated water line for producing ultrapure water.
Depending on the system version of the Arium® Mini, some or all of the following techniques are used to produce ultrapure water: Adsorption by spherical activated carbon, catalyst, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, optional UV irradiation and point-of-use particle-removing filtration | sterile filtration.
All Arium® Mini versions can be used with an external point-of-use Arium® Cellplus ultrafilter (H2O-CUF). The ultrafilter removes for example RNase, DNase and endotoxins that can be critical in some life science applications.
All Arium® Mini versions can be ordered with or without an integrated UV-light.
The general recommended daily ultrapure water consumption for the Arium® Mini family is up to 10 L. If you have very high-quality feed water, the system can be used for higher ultrapure water consumption per day. However, trained Sartorius engineers should be consulted beforehand, otherwise the consumables may be exhausted earlier than intended.
You can find information regarding recommended changing intervals in the user manual. Depending on the consumable, the changing interval may differ. Consumables might need to be changed more often if the feed water specification is out of scope, or the recommended daily consumption is higher than recommended.
Yes, you can determine quality limits for ultrapure water. If the quality values are exceeded, a warning message will be shown on the display. For critical analysis, you can also enable a function that stops you from being able to dispense ultrapure water if the warning message is active.
Trained Sartorius engineers can perform installations for you. During installation they can also perform qualification steps, IQ/OQ, to make sure everything is running within specifications. Service contracts are also available to help keep the performance of your Arium® Mini system optimal with preventive maintenance checks and consumable changes.
No, flexible dispensing units are only included in the new Arium® Mini Extend versions.
All dispensing functions (Manual- and volume-controlled) can be flexibly used via main display and the dispensing unit.
All Arium® Mini and Mini Extend versions can be validated by Sartorius Service.
