What Will You Learn:

  1. Understand the main drivers of process intensification.
  2. Identify different intensification scenarios and which technologies are suited to the different levels of process intensification.
  3. Learn how advanced technologies, such as multi-column and multi-step chromatography, enable process intensification.

Meet Our Experts:

Jean-Luc Beulay

Head of Marketing & Product Development, Sartorius Chromatography Equipment

Jean-Luc Beulay has more than twenty-four years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, mainly as a technical solution provider for downstream processing. Jean-Luc obtained his master's degree in process engineering from the University of Cachan.

He started at Pharmacia Biotech (now Cytiva), where he was involved in the development of various chromatography systems and columns. After 13 years, he moved to Merck Millipore, where he led the chromatography and filtration product portfolio. He then joined Finesse Solutions (now part of Thermo Fisher) where he was responsible for product marketing for bioreactor controls and single-use sensors, after which he returned to the chromatography business at Novasep to help launch a unique multi-column, multi-step chromatography system. Jean-Luc joined Sartorius in 2022 as Head of Product Management for Chromatography Systems and Columns.

Karl Rogler

Resolute® BioSMB Systems Product Manager

Karl Rogler earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he specialized in chromatography applications for protein purification. He has been developing chromatography applications on the Resolute® BioSMB system since 2013. In 2015, he became project manager for several Resolute® BioSMB projects and serves today as the Resolute® BioSMB Systems Product Manager.

Martin Lobedann

Process Technology Consultant, Separation Technologies

Martin Lobedann has twelve years of experience as a user and developer in the biopharmaceutical industry. Martin received his PhD in the field of downstream process development for recombinant antibodies. He then joined Bayer AG in Leverkusen, Germany, where he was instrumental in developing and leading a proprietary continuous mAb purification platform. He was actively involved in the design, construction and commissioning of hardware, flow kits, software and data analysis tools to enable continuous downstream processing. Martin joined Sartorius in 2021 as a Process Technology Consultant.
