Arium® Comfort Product Line-up

Arium® Comfort I

The Arium® Comfort I system delivers both ASTM Type 1 ultrapure water and Type 3 pure water in one system, using potable feed water as a source. With outstanding reverse osmosis (RO) technology and unique ion-exchange cartridge, the Comfort I delivers consistently purified, high-quality water. Intelligent iJust software optimizes water usage and ensures time and labor-saving operation. For critical applications, add the optional UV-lamp to your system (with or without a TOC monitor) or utilize our external ultrafilter to optimize water quality for your needs.

Arium® Comfort II

The Arium® Comfort II delivers ASTM Type 1 ultrapure and Type 2 pure water in one system. Directly connected to your potable feed water source, this system uses proven reverse osmosis (RO) technology combined with the latest proprietary EDI technology and a unique ion exchange cartridge to consistently deliver high-quality water. The innovative iJust function optimizes water usage and ensures time and labor-saving operation. Add the optional UV-lamp (with or without TOC monitor) to further reduce the TOC levels or utilize the external ultrafilter when things like endotoxins are of concern.

Arium® Bagtanks

The innovative Arium® Bagtank uses a closed system to intermediately store purified water pre-treated in the Comfort system before the polishing stage. Dispense pure water directly from the Bagtank if needed or connect the Bagtank to another laboratory device that requires purified feed water. Choose between a 20, 50 or 100 L Bagtank.

Frequently Asked Questions

As combined water purification systems, Arium® Comfort I and Comfort II produce 2 different types of purified water. The difference is water quality produced and an additional water purification technique. Arium® Comfort I produces reverse osmosis (RO) and ASTM Type 1 (ultrapure) water, while Arium® Comfort II produces ASTM Type 2 (pure) water and ASTM Type 1 (ultrapure) water.

The versions accommodate different applications. Depending on your daily water consumption, you might need a higher or lower production rate. You can also cover your daily water consumption need by choosing the correct size Bagtank. There is an 8 L/h or 16 L/h version of the Arium® Comfort I for producing RO water and a 5 L/h or 10 L/h version of the Arium® Comfort II to produce pure water.

Both Arium® Comfort I and II utilizes adsorption by activated carbon, catalyst, reverse osmosis, deionization (Comfort II additionally uses electrochemical deionization), with optional UV radiation and particle or sterile end-filtration.

Arium® iJust is an integrated software in both Arium® Comfort I and II that helps optimize water consumption. The software adjusts the ratio of product water and drain water for the reverse osmosis module, which usually is a fixed value, based on the hardness and CO2 level of the feed water. Based on the feed water quality, it can also adjust cleaning intervals.

A recirculation loop is added to the Arium® Comfort I and II to ensure high quality ultrapure water. The ultrapure water in the system is recirculated every hour for 15 minutes, when the system is in stand-by. As a result, the ultrapure water quality is reached faster - and with less water rinsed beforehand - than without the recirculation feature.

The Arium® Comfort family is recommended for daily ultrapure water volume needs of up to 40 L. For feed water with very high quality, it can be possible to exceed the daily recommended consumption. However, this should be discussed with Sartorius trained personnel, as it can otherwise lead to quicker exhaustion of consumables, resulting in shorter changing intervals.

It is possible to define quality limits to your ultrapure and pure water (which goes to the connected Bagtank). If the values are out of specification, a warning message will be visible on the display. You can also add acoustic signals to the warning messages if needed.

Data can be saved via SD-card or by connecting the Arium® Printer to print the data directly from the system.

Without a Bagtank as intermediate storage, the production flow rate of the pretreated water does not meet required ultrapure water flow rate at the dispense point. The Bagtank also allows connection to units like washing machines, where a high water volume is needed faster than the system is able to produce.

Depending on which product water you want to dispense from the Smart Station, you can connect either 1 or 3. For dispensing either RO or pure water (Comfort I or Comfort II respectively), you can connect one Smart Station Pure to the connected Bagtank. If you want to dispense ultrapure water with the remote dispenser, it is possible to connect up to 3 Smart Station Ultrapure units to the Comfort purification system.
